Being able to stand on one leg doesn't just test your balance, but it can also be a predictor of future health.
Firstly take off your shoes and stand next to a wall or chair in case you need to hold onto something. Put your hands on your hips, close your eyes and lift one leg. The test is over as soon as you put your foot back down. You may find that you are only able to balance for a few seconds to start with but see if you can work up to a minute.
If you found the test hard, don't despair. Practice makes perfect and the more balance exercises you do, the better you will become.
You can vary the challenge by adding other movements such as moving the leg forward/back, turning your head, bicep curls or even put on your socks!! Other challenges are to stand on an uneven surface like a bosu balance board or a cushion.
Top tip: balance on one leg while you're cleaning your teeth and swap hands and feet intermittently. That way that you'll ensure you've done your balance exercises and your teeth are perfectly clean every day!
