Body Control Pilates training programme is extremely detailed.
After attending 12 intensive theory and practical days plus a one day anatomy and physiology course in London, I had my first practical assessment with the Northern Regional Coordinator based in Newcastle. She gave me the green light I needed to start my supervised teacher training. Body Control Pilates is one of very few training providers which insists that trainee teachers achieve a minimum number of hours, teaching real life clients in front of a supervising instructor. For me this meant regular trips to three different instructors as well as additional teaching workshops in London. By the time I had finished my training, I had clocked up over 60 hours of supervised teaching and over hundreds of miles travelling across the country.
Alongside my teaching, I also had to complete two written assessments, the Active IQ Level 3 Workbook and the Level 3 Active IQ Physiology and Anatomy Exams which I passed with 97% and 95%. The final written part of the qualification involved the submission and approval of a 6-week lesson plan and completion of an example client registration form.
The last two practical hurdles were the initial sign off by one examiner and a final sign off by two examiners both at the BCP headquarters in London.
And so by the end of the year I had made it. I couldn't believe how much time, effort and energy I had spent, but it was all worth it in the end to say that I was now an accredited Body Control Level 3 Mat Pilates instructor. I was well and truly on my Pilates journey.
