ALL ABOUT A TRINNY NEW YEAR

(Trinny was the other half of the Trinny and Susannah power couple who were renowned for their straight-forward fashion advice in the late 1990s). The book looks at ways of challenging yourself, building confidence and self-belief and also the benefits of gratitude.  Her thoughts on perseverance, tenacity, resilience and self-determination resonate with me as does her love of Pilates. Trinny started doing Pilates in her early 20s, because she loved the grace and its association with ballet. She also saw the issues her mother had in later life with mobility which meant walking became increasingly harder.  Trinny realised early on that exercise was essential to maintain mobility in later years. Trinny encourages us to consider some form of strength training: “It is one of the most important things you can do to keep mobile and active and it is never too early or late to start.  Not only does it improve your balance and stability, it increases bone density which is vital for protecting against osteoporosis”. Trinny still does Pilates every week – she sees it as a necessity.  She made me smile when she says that she often feels like cancelling, but knows how much better she feels when she has done it. I couldn’t say it any better than Trinny: “Love yourself enough to invest in your body and take the time to exercise”. On that note, I am raring to get back to classes and look ahead to 2024.  I don’t know what the new year will bring, but it will include Pilates!!   HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
