The start of the All About Pilates Studio's journey
Updated: Jun 5, 2019
About two years ago I attended a Pilates class on holiday in the Algarve. It was the most beautiful sunny day, the birds were singing in the trees and the class was held outside in the shade of a canopy. It was a life-changing moment as I walked out and decided there and then that I wanted to become a Pilates instructor. (Check out the studio's website, it's a fab place!!)
I had been practising Pilates for over 15 years starting out when pregnant with my son. I enjoyed how it made me feel and the strength it gave me. However, I gave up classes for a while while moving house and my back became so bad from carrying my son around all the time. When I ended up using a walking stick to get out of bed I realised that I had to go back to classes and I haven't looked back since.
So, going back to my life-changing moment, I set out with my plan and shared it with my husband who was 100% behind it. My son was also fully supportive as long as he didn't have to go anywhere near a Pilates studio! My plan meant selling my trusted horse box (which really should have had a blog of its own the amount of scrapes we got into!) to put the money towards paying for the course and starting my own business. You could hear the sigh of relief from my horse, Star, when the lorry was driven away! More from Star later, too!!
I decided upon Body Control Pilates as my trainer of choice and signed on the dotted line with a start date of January 2018. My 50th birthday was also looming at the end of the year and I was heading for a mid-life crisis! I gave myself the year to complete the course and pass my final exam.
But did I do it? You'll have to wait and see!!
