The road to Pilates ......
In January 2018 I attended the first day of my training to be a Body Control Pilates Instructor. Although the journey down to London from the North East was just a bit dramatic with a flat tyre and a visit from the trusted AA man at the services on the M11.
But I was back in my car again pretty quickly and I hoped that this was the only bump in the road I'd experience.
The first day of the course was given by Lynne Robinson herself. The high priestess of Pilates as described by model Sophie Dahl. The whole class was just a little intimidated by her presence, but we soon relaxed and took in everything she had to tell us.
It was a fab week meeting a lovely group of people from all over the world who were all looking to start their Pilates dream.
The second week kicked off with the anatomy and physiology day which made me realise how little I knew about my body and sent me into a mild panic knowing that the course also included two exam papers on the subject.
By the end of the second week we were all physically and mentally drained and just a little daunted as to what we needed to do when we returned home.
There were so many elements to the qualification that I knew the only way to tackle them was to break down each section into a bite size chunk and tick it off my list.
It was going to be a long, hot summer!!!
